2024 Airush Lithium V13 and Lithium Team Review | Advanced Kite Constructions
Kristin from MACkite and Airush Kiteboarding provides an in-depth review of the Airush Lithium V13 and the new Lithium Team kites, focusing on their suitability, performance, and the innovative Team Construction. The Airush Lithium has been a mainstay since 1999 and is now in its 13th generation. This Delta hybrid three-strut kite is renowned for its stability and excellent handling of gusty conditions. Kristin recalls her first impression of the Lithium, noting its impressive loftiness, remarkable hangtime, and soft landings, making it particularly advantageous for those learning tricks like back rolls, front rolls, grabs, and board offs. The extended hangtime allows more time to execute these maneuvers, while the gentle landings add an extra layer of safety and comfort.
Kristin emphasizes that the Lithium is not only beginner-friendly but also responsive and enjoyable for experienced kiters. Its stability, good low-end performance, and easy relaunch due to the swept-back wingtips make it ideal for beginners. For experienced riders, the mid-level bar pressure provides excellent feedback without causing arm fatigue. Kristin has enjoyed using the Lithium for freestyle and wave riding, praising its ability to handle various conditions and perform well across different disciplines.
The new Team Construction, featuring the advanced Hookipa material, sets the Lithium Team apart. This unique Ultra PE fabric is lighter and stiffer, offering 10 times the strength and durability of standard fabric. The narrower leading edges, made possible by the stronger material, result in faster and more responsive kites, especially noticeable in larger sizes. Kristin highlights the significant improvement in performance for larger kites, like the 17m, which now fly more like smaller kites. The Team Series construction allows kiters to make the most of light wind days, enhancing progression and providing more opportunities to kite when conditions are less than ideal.
Kristin concludes that the Team Series is perfect for those seeking premium, lightweight, and durable materials. Whether opting for the standard or Team construction, the Airush Lithium offers a versatile and fun all-around freeride experience, suitable for both beginners and experienced riders alike. This kite provides exceptional hangtime, loftiness, and responsiveness, making it a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy a dynamic and engaging kiteboarding session.

2024 F-One Wings Sneak Peek | What's Hot in the Latest Lineup!
I'm into this sport only two months after a decade of kitefoiling and 20 years 2 of windsurfing. This experience has my jibing, switching feet, riding some swell. But The ONE reason I get exhausted early is the pumping up to foil. I hope I soon get to a level where this gets easier doing
Nice review. One info that would be helpful w.r.t. belt - are there multiple attachment points - i.e. is it possible to hook board least to the back and wing leash to the front?
Hey, I have an Awesome and it really is a great board ordered from their shop and talked the them personally. Its actually pronounced LEE - OW - WAY. I know you're not going to change it in the video, but I spent an inordinate amount of time asking them to teach me how to pronounce it correctly. That aside, I have compare this board to cabrinha spectrum and duotone gonzalez and this board beats them both hands down.
Hi guys between the Evo 23 or supermodel htf2 or bandit Xvi which do you recommend for jumping?
I'm 155lbs and I want to pump and surf behind my jet ski's small wakes. Which one is a better fit for me between quantum 100 and quantum 85?
q100
How ht2/hypermodel compares to North Reach 2024?
Nice one guys!
Thanks FD!
Going to try these tips tomorrow. Thank you!
What wing is that?
I believe he is riding the LF Glider here. -Tucker
I got 6m GT one + tried it in 12 knots, not enough grunt otherwise light weight ( literally same as D lab) , great looking, very stable ( front handle flag is weightless and straight) , tight wing . My F one Swing 5 m was a bliss to use after in same conditions 🤷♂️. Two sessions and still can’t find the power point in it . Would be nice to hear some tips from pro riders on how to use this wing .
This is truly a fantastic video because it allows a beginner not to lose his way when purchasing an inflatable board. Congratulations indeed and thank you for existing!
Hi Ryan, congratulations on your great videos! I would have a few question on the ION Waist leash: 1. Are you still using it and consider that it suits you best? 2. Which leash length would you recommend - I assume 8' for a board length of 6'. 10' seems too long for wingfoil board. 3. I have seen on ION website that there is another option called "Safety" that includes a certain attachement device instead of the carabiner. I have not understood how it is meant to work. Have you seen/tested this other option? Thanks for your feedback!
I'll get you Ryan's reply shortly but my personal favorite as of late has been the Kaohi Inviz leash. It works well for me in a wide range of board sizes. I even use it on longer downwind style boards with an added rope section from an old leash. It's available in carabiner, railsaver, waist, and calf options. Super light and doesn't get tangled. Also doesn't slingshot the board into your body after being stretched. -Tucker www.mackiteboarding.com/kaohi-inviz-hybrid-leash/
I'm now using a similar style leash by Kaohi. Same concept with the carabiner and coiled leash. The carabiner makes it really easy to connect/disconnect to the back of my harness when getting in and out of the water. The coil helps keep it off the board and give a little shock absorption when you fall. I just started using the leash Tucker mentioned above and so far I am liking it. 6-7ft seams to be a good length for 5-6ft boards. -Ryan
Why did they change the red side to green?
So what’s the weight like?
Mid-weight as compared to other downwind boards of similar size.
Do you use go pro max?
I like the idea of less water absorption on the ION Rogue, but how is that ION ARC or the Mystic Wingman regarding that? I don't think I want something as big as the Rogue.
I normally ride for 3 hours with no harness. My right index finger is swelling up after long sessions now. This has to change.
You saved my life ❤❤❤
So glad to hear that, my friend. Thanks for sharing the stoke! Good winds to you! -Aaron
Can we see some video of this??
Yeah, some B-Roll of that technique in action would've been good to have, right? 🤙🏽 Good winds! -Aaron
Can this be used in a static environment? Meaning no waves?
When does the 2025 REACH come out?
Not sure exactly when North will drop that one, but we'll likely know more around late summer. 🤙🏽 Good winds! -Aaron
Compliments. Your discussions are the most realistic and useful for beginners!I'm learning with a 10 foot inflatable sup without foil. But the waves bother me a lot. Should I only go out with flat water? And with how much wind at minimum and maximum with sup and wing? Thank you.
yes ,flat water is helpful. I'd say 10-20kn is ideal for riding without a foil. -Tucker
I want to do railey to blind, but I find surface pass so hard... every time I try to do it, I am stucked at 90° rotation... Has anyone manged to do a railey to blind without doing a surface pass?
With carbon mast and foil attached, does this board stay horizontal (mast parallel to the water) or vertical (mast and wing pointing downwards)
It depends on the volume of the foil and mast choice. The lower volume foils and aluminum masts will sit vertical, the larger volume wings, especially on the carbon masts will float horizontal.
It works fine with my other batteries Dave K
6-22-24. When pairing my battery I get a red light that pops up on the right hand side and stays lit when trying to pair
Great review . 🤙🏄♂️🏝️🌈 I have the 12 & 14 lithium and love them both , a true all around kite and super easy to use .
How does this board compare to Axis foil drive board of the same size?
It's lighter and both have a good signal using the foil drive. The Appleslice have more hull in the nose so they are smoother through rough water. -Tucker
Works great till wind blows some beach sand into your setscrew and you need them to remove to clean it.
Which would you say is a better choice for low wind CWC v4 or Loft Pro? Or maybe something else offers better price/quality ratio?
Tough call on that one. It would depend on the rider and conditions. For raw power, the Loft Pro is best in class. The CWC V4 has more top end range and upwind ability. The CWC is best for riders who want to build speed and apparent wind. The Loft Pro is best for riders who want to get on foil easily, especially on smaller boards. -Tucker
Great to see these (premium) boards now available in the USA 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for sharing the stoke, my friend. 🤙🏽 Good winds! -Aaron
How much?
www.mackiteboarding.com/2024-reedin-supernatural-wing/
At first I thought, that a medium weight rider /80 kg/ should be feeling comfortable winging with 4.8 from 16-17 knots and above...but from this video I conclude, that may be from 17-18 kn, or 18-19 kn, or even more..
Depends heavily on the wing design, foil size/shape, and rider experience. As an experienced rider who enjoys small boards and foils I'm not pickup up the 4.8m until about 20kn. I can ride it in as little as 14kn with a large board and foil but I prefer to have more power and speed. -Tucker
@@MACkiteboarding Got it, that sounds great, thanks Tucker
Awesome review, guys! thanks! Please come kite in Ukraine after our victory! We have great spots in Azov sea, (Arabatska strilka area). All directions work.
Can you give us the low-down on each rider's gear set-up?
Why no recess for the foil drive?
How's the overall weight compared to a Nova Pro?
Sweet Review Tucker! Gotta get down to Antigua for a race around the island on this bad boy!
Amen @jakekelsick ! I'll put it on my bucket list. We'd love to show you around some fresh water sometime as well. Maybe North can send you up "north" for KOGL Test Fest this year? -Tucker
Be interesting to measure cord of inflated strut and wingspan of both the 7.7m liteforce vs V4 F1 CWC 8m for a comparison think all wings should have this spec out especially in big wings.surprised the lite force has more lowend than the V4 CWC 8m dang
For sure. I could get that at some point but it's also a bit misleading metric as the wingtip shape, handle position, and dihedrial has a lot to do with it as well. -Tucker
Quiver question : my weight fluctuates yeary between 96kg at xmas down to 83 kg morning. Currently have 7m mode, 5m ensis and 4m cabrinha. Looking to build a North quiver. Love the mode currently as its very gusty here e.g. out in 12 gusting to 23 last week. I was thinking 5.5 & 4.2, but from the review need bigger than i was planning - any advice appreciated!
Yes, I would size up on this model. You'll want to fly these wings powered and they have a massive top end range. I was riding the 4.8m up to 30mph yesterday. -Tucker
@@MACkiteboarding so still knock off 0.5 like with the mode pro? Or more like 1m for original mode? I'm using the 7 mode as a 6 at the moment (feels like)
@@danielpugh2752 I'd say 0.5 but also depends on which wings you are comparing. For a really grunty wing I'd size up 1m just to be sure I have proper power for maximum performance.
@@MACkiteboardingmainly compared to my more generic ones (north nova, ensis score V2 are my main go-to wings. Aiming for a 3 wing quiver - mode 7 (like 6) mode pro 5.5, and then either mode pro 4.8 or 4.2. for the lower end ive felt overpowered on a mantis 4m, but only in winter storms
You didn't mention this from the North web site, . "...**HANDLE WITH CARE** N-Xi is a performance race wing material which requires more careful handling than a ripstop canopy. While North recommends storing all of our wing canopies by rolling and folding, the Mode Ultra has a specially designed bag to accommodate the rolled wing. No folding of the N-Xi canopy is required." Seeing you are advised to roll it and not fold it, it would have made sense to provide the track system and a boom. Cheaper and lighter and more versatile control options.
Good point Greg, I would have liked to see that on this wing as well. Yes, you'll want to roll this wing. People who leave the strut inflated will be excited to hear it fits into the storage sock while the strut is inflated. Less pumping and more shredding! -Tucker
Can you kiteloop the 11 or 12m?
Been wakeboarding for years kiting just about a year. I cannot get the same feel with straps. Gonna put on some boots for my next session. I got some hyperlite systems I think I'll use first just to make it easier to get in and out.
Hey, Dude-I'm right there with you. 🤙🏽 As a wakeboarder, it's really hard to understand riding with two wimpy little straps on your board, right? Took me a long time to get used to that too. I've not ridden Hyperlite Systems, but I think they would work great for kiting. Good winds to you, my friend! -Aaron
What should the rope length be behind a pontoon ?
You can use almost any rope length but beginners do better further back so the motor doesn't aerate the water as much. You want to stay out of the prop wash for the smoothest ride. -Tucker
i hope they integrate the handle rail system into all their wings
I think there is a good chance they will. It's been well received. -Tucker
For marginal wind. Which wing would you recommend? Vs cwc aluula?
Tough call, they are both really nice wings and equally suitable in my mind. The CWC is a little more expensive and I like the Ozone handles better so I guess I'd go with the Ozone Liteforce personally. -Tucker
@@MACkiteboardingthanks ❤ which one has the best low end (vs cwc 4)?
@@Wingsurf Similar low end. I can get the same out of these. I guess the Liteforce is a 7.7m and the CWC is an 8m so technically the Liteforce has more low end/area. -Tucker
So upwind and speed is better with aluula?
Yeah less drag. With double canopy upwind and speed are even better.
Depends on the wing but typically, yes. The Aluula frame is stiffer which translates to a more consistent air foil and power transmission. Because it's so much stiffer you can also build it with narrower bladders for less drag through the wind and more effective canopy efficiency. -Tucker
Im looking for a 6m light wind wing and I wonder if the slick dlab allula 2023 offer more than the new 2024 normal slick ?
They have similar low end but the D/lab will have a little more top end range. -Tucker
I’m confused is this Mac city or St. Iggy?
Any idea if this new material is going to be more robust/last longer?
Sorry and other thought. What’s it like for transitions, tacks etc?
Its a loooot more robust and will last a lot more… saw the ultra last week and it’s a beast, pick it if you can even for just freeridin
Really nice. Very clean into the wind with no downward pressure or nose dip. -Tucker
